As the name implies, shrink wrap centerfold rolls are folded down the center, offering twice the coverage as single ply rolls – ideal for larger arrangements. In this video demonstration by Susan Huelsman AIFD, learn how to use the shrink wrap centerfold roll from Pioneer Imports & Wholesale to securely wrap a large gift basket.

As Susan points out, it is always important to select a wrap that will fit the basket you plan to prepare, including any contents that may protrude from the top. Susan has already measured the basket at 16 inches, so she has decided to cut the wrap at three times that length to accommodate the basket and edges.

Cutting the shrink wrap is a little easier with the technique that Susan demonstrates. Make sure the wrap is nice and flat, and measure to the point that you want to cut. Make an initial snip and then glide your scissors straight through both layers to get a nice even edge.

Once you have cut the appropriate length of wrap, open to unfold along the center. Susan shares a great tip to get rid of any static – simply wrap your hand in a dryer sheet and move it across the surface.

Next, Susan places the basket in the middle of the open flat wrap. She suggests checking the fit one more time before proceeding.

There are a few different ways to enclose the basket and contents. Once common method is to gather the excess wrap at the top to create a decorative plume.

For a cleaner look, take the wrap completely around the basket arrangement. Go from front to back, and then bring the other side to the midline. Add a piece of tape to temporarily join the pieces. Now you have a few options for the rest of the wrap – gather the excess on the sides like a large piece of candy or tuck it underneath the basket and secure with tape.

Once you have your wrap arranged the way you like it, use a heat gun to activate. Susan starts at the bottom of the basket, working her way upward with an even sweeping motion. Tuck and tape any excess wrap that remains afterward.

The next step is to create a fun presentation with ribbon. Susan wraps the ribbon around the bottom and ties it off. She then removes the tape from the top of the arrangement now that it is no longer needed. She gives the basket one final pass with the heat gun before completing the bow. You can add other decorative accents like silk flowers if desired.
