Video: Vanilla Dream Design

Monobotanical arrangements an especially popular look right now. Monobotanical refers to arrangements that use just one type of silk flower, a straightforward look that offers a surprising amount of flexibility.

In this video, talented designer Tom Bowling AIFD, CFD, PFCI creates an inspiring monobotanical arrangement to show just how gorgeous this style can be. His choice of permanent botanical for this demonstration is a selection of wholesale silk cabbage rose from Pioneer Imports & Wholesale, using just two colorways from the tremendous spectrum available within the catalog.

Tom will also be working a touch of silk foliage into the design. His selections are silk silver dollar eucalyptus and intricate artificial maidenhair fern, both wholesale foliage options from Pioneer.

The base for this design is the elegant “Mallory” glass compote in silver, prepared before the video with a block of dry floral foam. Tom begins by styling the perimeter with the artificial fern, working his way from one side of the compote to the other.

You may notice that he hadn’t added any moss or other cover to conceal the floral foam. He begins that step next, working the moss around the outside. He uses only the most sparing amount to keep the composition looking nice and clean.

Next, Tom changes up the texture with silk eucalyptus. He describes his technique for creating a more natural look, manipulating each piece into a more lifelike position after insertion.

After creating a sweeping line across the composition with the artificial eucalyptus, Tom begins to add the silk cabbage rose. He draws special attention to the vanilla dream coloration, a nice warm option with a soft and friendly look.

Tom offers a few tips about the silk cabbage rose foliage. Sometimes he gently slides the foliage upward along the stem for prominence, and other times he removes it. He saves this silk foliage for later compositions – a smart way to stretch a supplies budget and prevent material waste. Another way he stretches his budget is using bush-format products rather than individual stems.

Silk cabbage rose in the chalk colorway is the next addition. Tom places these with careful attention to depth, making sure to preserve negative space. He comes back and fills in the design with more silk foliage, using the lacy maidenhair fern to balance out the heavier greens.

The result is a small and compact colonial design that would look great anywhere. Tom notes that you could easily transform this into an oblong shape – perhaps for a dramatic centerpiece – by taking some of the longer silk foliage placements to the outside edge.

This composition came together in just minutes, showing just how brilliantly simple monobotanical arrangements can be.

You can find all the supplies used in this demonstration available within the Pioneer Imports & Wholesale catalog. Explore the rest of the fascinating silk cabbage rose colorations, or branch out and browse hundreds of other silk flower and foliage options for your next monobotanical creation.

Video: How To: Design an Arrangement for Fall

Amy Lombardo - Friday, September 20, 2019
Video Summary written for Pioneer Imports & Wholesale by: Lisa B.

Autumn is approaching and that means it’s time to start getting equipped with those seasonal permanent botanical essentials for those festive fall arrangements.

Fall is a wonderful time of the year when the seasons change – and the color palettes along with them. In this video, Tom Bowling uses permanent botanical supplies from Pioneer Imports & Wholesale to create a gorgeous arrangement using the dramatic colors and textures of fall. Follow along to create your own take on this fantastic accent to help your customers and clients into that autumn spirit.

The best part? This arrangement only requires a small variety of components. From simple and straightforward permanent botanicals comes an eye-catching result everyone will love.

Tom builds this arrangement within the elevated “Bam” bamboo basket. He notes that those who keep up with the interior and shelter magazines will have noticed these charming handcrafted baskets coming back into vogue. This one has been prepared with dry floral foam bricks and a perimeter of moss along the outside.

Wholesale wheat clusters are the first addition. Tom lays these in place, then pins them down for security.

You will notice that when attaching certain pieces, Tom uses discarded pieces of stem from previous projects. This eliminates the need to cut a bunch of individual wires and makes it easier to create more compositions in a timely manner.

Next, Tom begins to add selections of beautiful silk fern – the Hanging Spiny Wood Fern Bush from Pioneer. He makes sure these initial insertions drop over the edge to create an elegant “spill” aesthetic, taking advantage of the extra height this raised container provides.

This spill invokes feelings of abundance. As a harvest season, this abundance is what that fall look is all about.

He creates a short overhang of silk fern on one side and a long graceful spill on the other. He takes care to bring shorter pieces through the center to draw the eye across the entire arrangement, touching each component.

Tom notes that texture of this wholesale silk fern selection is great, but in certain cases such a variety of complex shapes may begin to look a little busy. The silk sunflowers he adds in the next step helps provide a simple counterbalance for a nice even look.

The wholesale silk sunflowers he uses next have tall strong stems, giving the arrangement a touch of exaggerated height. He points out that he is making these insertions in groups – this smart technique makes a stronger and bolder impression with whatever kind of component you happen to be using.

With sunflowers, Tom makes mention that each one has a “face”. When those faces are facing directly toward the viewer, it can cause the eye to stop and settle on that unique focal point. This is the reason he bends the stem of each silk sunflower so that the face is pointing upward. This keeps the eye moving across the piece so viewers can take in the entire composition to full effect.

Silk maple leaves, the next addition, serve as a fantastic color interest. Tom takes advantage of the longer stems to continue building height and then begins filling in any gaps in the arrangement.

And finally – nothing says fall quite like little pumpkins. Tom uses the wholesale artificial pumpkin assortment from Pioneer and begins decorating the composition with these charming little additions. While you can wire these in place if needed, Tom repurposes the trimmed-off portions of stems from this arrangement to create little stakes to hold each artificial pumpkin in place.

This autumn permanent botanical arrangement is a breathtaking piece for fall events, interior design projects, window displays, and so much more – a quick way to get your customers and clients into the seasonal spirit.

This video demonstration shows Vonda LaFever AIFD, PFCI, CFD creating a simple arrangement with pieces from the Moroccan Market Collection.  Vonda begins with the simple beige Astrid pot, a nice neutral base sure to let the colors of the permanent botanicals really pop.

Bright and lifelike artificial lemon leaf serves as the first addition. Vonda inserts each individual piece to create an initial well-balanced volume ready to build upon. Silk cabbage rose in pink sangria comes next – just two pieces make a tremendous impression on their own.

Next comes silk hydrangea in breathtaking peacock blue, followed by silk hydrangea in the pumpkin spice colorway. She inserts each new selection in bold blocks of color. Realistic artificial echeveria succulents are the final addition. These she intersperses throughout, effectively softening the profile and bringing depth to the green of the silk foliage.

The result is beautiful! Within just a few minutes, Vonda was able to create a display-worthy arrangement using pieces from the Moroccan Market Collection – and you can too!

Building a versatile stock of permanent botanicals for autumn is about to get even easier with the Autumnal Accents Collection from Pioneer Imports & Wholesale. Upon seeing these rich seasonal colors, you can almost taste the hot apple cider and hear the leaves crunching beneath your feet.

In this quick demonstration video, watch as Vonda LaFever AIFD, PFCI, CFD creates two matching arrangements using permanent botanical selections from the Autumnal Accents Collection. These centerpieces are built in two sizes of the modern “Editor” pot in gold – a fantastic option for sophisticated fall styles.

Vonda begins with artificial foliage to establish a strong and alluring sense of texture. She uses silk fern bush in brown, building up volume in each of the containers. Artificial saw & heather fern in a lighter green adds a touch of contrast.

Next, Vonda begins adding wholesale silk flowers from Pioneer, starting with the larger container. She inserts yellow gold silk hydrangea first. The next additions, silk dahlia, are from the pumpkin spice colorway – perfect for the autumn season. Vonda then works in sections to create attractive color blocks with silk peony in pure red.

Vonda repeats this process within the smaller container, but on a smaller scale. She keeps this one simple with silk peony in pure red and bold silk cabbage rose in pumpkin spice.

The results are bright and cheerful – a breath of fresh air for autumn. You can find the floral design elements used in this video available from the Pioneer Imports & Wholesale catalog. Video Summary written for Pioneer Imports & Wholesale by: Lisa B.

Jewel tones are back! These rich deep colors can set your permanent botanical arrangements apart from the rest – impossible to ignore, yet tasteful enough to fit any type of event.

Vonda LaFever AIFD, PFCI, CFD creates an example arrangement to inspire you, using gorgeous silk flowers and foliage you can find readily available through the Pioneer Imports & Wholesale catalog. She begins with the gorgeous Mirage pot prepared with floral foam, its rim featuring the perfect colors to tie the deep jewel tones together.

The first addition is stunning silk delphinium in a bold deep amethyst color. These start the arrangement with impressive height – foreshadowing how grand this composition will be. Next, she adds a touch of realistic artificial blueberries for fascinating texture variation.

Elegant artificial foliage comes next, the wholesale silk maidenhair fern from Pioneer. Silk sweet pea in yellow gold joins the party to bring a big splash of bright color, an important component in creating brilliant contrast with the pieces that come next.

You’ll notice Vonda adding a few touches of deep amethyst silk ranunculus next, a classic favorite with a sophisticated twist. Artificial olive branch bulks up the design a bit more – a fantastic height match for the silk delphinium added earlier. Peacock blue silk hydrangea draws the eye toward a corner of the design.

The final addition is silk anemone in a brilliant red garnet color, a choice that stands out from the peacock turquoise and yellow gold. This creates a base palette that interprets the primaries through the lens of unforgettable jewel tones.

In its final form, this permanent botanical arrangement tutorial results in a dramatic and grand design, with strong lines that form a sweeping motion almost like a quarter moon. This distinctive shape has a secondary advantage as well – allowing the rim of the Mirage container to peek through, accenting the jewel tones within the arrangement.

Bolster your permanent botanical toolkit with vibrant jewel tones from Pioneer Imports & Wholesale. Pioneer offers a range of wholesale silk flowers, containers, and artificial botanicals in the incredible jewel tones you see here, along with a powerful variety of other palettes to suit your next event or product line.

Video: Indian Summer Collection

Amy Lombardo - Tuesday, August 06, 2019
Video Summary written for Pioneer Imports & Wholesale by: Lisa B.

Pioneer Imports & Wholesale introduces a refreshing permanent botanical collection inspired by the casual and comfortable feeling of an Indian summer - when those warm, mild days stretch into autumn and hold the dreary weather at bay.

In this video demonstration, Vonda LaFever AIFD, PFCI, CFD creates a gorgeous centerpiece arrangement using selections from the Indian Summer Collection. She begins with the fabulous Terrazzo bowl in white ceramic speckled with the subdued colors of late summer. These speckles tie the wholesale floral elements together in style.

Vonda begins the arrangement with a showstopping focal point – an artificial monstera philo of tremendous size. She trims the leaf portion from the stem, placing the broad artificial leaf securely into the floral foam. Vonda bends the stem into a dramatic loop to use as an underlying structure for this innovative composition.

She adds a simple glue strip and begins attaching silk hanging wisteria along the stem almost like it were a trellis. She secures the wholesale artificial wisteria with floral wire. Once this step is complete, the silk wisteria looks like it is making this elegant arch on its own.

Next, Vonda inserts two picks of the sensational silk “dinner plate” dahlia. The soothing cream color matches the silk wisteria beautifully. Her final additions are nostalgic terracotta silk roses, a beautiful touch of color that really captures those fleeting days as summer transitions into autumn.

The finished permanent botanical arrangement makes a strong statement, both aesthetically and symbolically.

Your customers and clients are sure to fall in love with the Indian Summer Collection – you can find the wholesale silk flowers and wholesale container used here available right now through the Pioneer Imports & Wholesale catalog. Video: Refined Vintage Collection

Amy Lombardo - Monday, August 05, 2019
Video Summary written for Pioneer Imports & Wholesale by: Lisa B.

You may know the phrase – “What’s old is new again!” Retro styles always find their way back into the spotlight when it comes to floral design trends.

The Refined Vintage collection from Pioneer Imports & Wholesale breathes new life into yesterday’s most beloved looks. This permanent botanical collection takes a range of memorable vintage favorites and gives them a modern update for today’s customers.

Vonda LaFever AIFD, PFCI, CFD demonstrates the potential of this collection by creating a gorgeous centerpiece for this quick video. She uses a selection of fantastic pieces from the Refined Vintage collection – showing how elements that were all the rage decades ago can feel fresh and new again.

She begins with the Kate urn from Pioneer, a nice piece in a light shade of vintage sage green. This piece has already been prepared with a block of premium floral foam within.

Next, Vonda introduces one of the stars of this collection. Those who have been in the business for a while surely remember when pampas grass would find its way into seemingly every floral arrangement. And now it’s back! Pioneer’s artificial pampas grass brings a trendy twist to this mainstay of eras past.

Vonda trims the plumes away from the artificial grass portion, inserting the tall green spikes into the center of the floral foam. This gives the arrangement striking body and volume right from the very first insertion. Next, she adds graceful selections of artificial dusty miller and eucalyptus – setting the stage for the pastel hued insertions that come next.

Beautiful silk hydrangea in a buttery parchment colorway are the first addition, then Vonda follows up with silk peony in classic sage and silk cabbage rose in vintage pink. Vonda inserts the silk pampas grass plumes last, giving them equal distribution within the artificial grass.

If you have never used these artificial grasses in the past, Vonda offers a useful tip to finish the design. She uses the back of a knife to gently curl the tips – eliminating just enough stiffness to give them a natural look.

The result is wonderful! This accent piece takes retro favorites and makes them feel perfectly fresh and modern. You can find all the elements used in this video demonstration available through the Pioneer Imports & Wholesale catalog. Video: Banana Leaf Stem

Amy Lombardo - Friday, August 02, 2019
Video Summary written for Pioneer Imports & Wholesale by: Lisa B.

Vonda LaFever AIFD, PFCI, CFD highlights a different kind of permanent botanical arrangement in this quick video tutorial – stepping away from the small petite arrangements and instead creating a large showstopping statement piece.

This tutorial is great for those moments when you encounter an especially large type of silk foliage, like the impressive artificial banana leaf from Pioneer Imports & Wholesale. This artificial banana leaf arrangement makes a dramatic impression, great for parties and events that call for something a little extra.

Vonda begins with a block of floral foam placed in a wholesale container from Pioneer, the “Lita” metal compote in gold. She takes the tremendous 41” artificial banana leaf stem and cuts it in half through the middle. She places the halves into either side of the foam, creating the illusion that the stem passes right through it. She repeats the process with the second stem.

Next, Vonda begins adding “dinner plate” silk dahlia in vintage pink. These oversized silk blooms are a fantastic complement to the scale of the artificial banana leaf. She arranges these in a sort of diagonal line, creating another angle of sweeping movement through the composition.

Silk small petal hydrangea are the next addition. Vonda uses two colorways, burgundy and dual tone pink. These wholesale silk hydrangeas are exceptionally versatile – you can cut away smaller sections for petite compositions or use the voluminous bush sections to complement large arrangements like this one.

Now all that’s left are the finishing touches. Vonda adds silk dusty miller spray cuttings throughout the piece for a natural organic look.

As you can see, creating visual balance is the biggest challenge with using permanent botanicals as large as the artificial banana leaf. Vonda has tackled this with smart counterbalancing techniques, ensuring each element builds on the visual weight of the next.

Explore the Pioneer Imports & Wholesale catalog to find these large artificial banana leaves and so much more. Not only does Pioneer offer wholesale silk flower favorites you can use every day, they also offer specialties to help you break out of your comfort zone and make your arrangements stand out from the competition.

Video: Grand Manor Collection

Amy Lombardo - Thursday, August 01, 2019
Video Summary written for Pioneer Imports & Wholesale by: Lisa B.

Are you looking for sophisticated autumn color palettes for your seasonal permanent botanical arrangements? Vonda LaFever AIFD, PFCI, CFD introduces the Grand Manor Collection – a rich colorway that spans a diverse selection of wholesale silk flowers available from Pioneer Imports & Wholesale.

Vonda demonstrates the grace of the Grand Manor Collection by creating a lovely hand-tied bouquet using a combination of silk fall foliage and muted silk flowers. If you have a busy production schedule, you’re going to love the timesaving methods Vonda employs with this design.

Prior to the beginning of this video, Vonda has already prepared a base of artificial dusty miller in green and silk eucalyptus. Then, instead of taking the time and effort to carefully select silk flowers for this composition, she simply chose a mixed bush from Pioneer – a combination of silk anemone, silk ranunculus, silk rose, and silk hydrangea in a mixture of Grand Manor Collection pinks and purples.

Vonda takes the base of artificial dusty miller and silk eucalyptus and starts adding the Grand Manor pieces one by one. She starts with splashes of pink, then dark purple to complement the silk eucalyptus. Next are darker pink silk anemone and light lavender silk ranunculus. Lavender silk hydrangea rounds out the arrangement.

Interestingly, the individual silk flowers originally come in a bush format from Pioneer. Vonda trimmed each pick from the bush before beginning, making it easier to create a more pleasing color balance. Floral wire secures the individual picks to the bouquet, and later Vonda will finish the composition with floral tape for binding and double-satin ribbon for a finished look.

With just a few components from Pioneer Imports & Wholesale, you can recreate this bouquet for your own projects and events. Let Pioneer help you flesh out your floral design toolbox with gorgeous silk botanicals like these pieces from the Grand Manor Collection.
