Streamline Your Prom Prep: Quick Tips For Corsage and Boutonniere Mechanics

Prom season can cast a stressful cloud over the month of May. So many intricate pieces, so many judgmental customers. It is no wonder many florists cap the number of corsages and boutonniere orders they will accept in May. It can easily be a losing battle for profit.

But did you know about the multitude of products we carry to make corsage and boutonniere building easier? Save yourself costly labor, add security to designs with specialized items, and save time ordering using these prom hacks:

Use bracelets/wristlets made for florists – Every bracelet we sell comes with a design disk attached, ready for you to design. Out of the box, you can add flowers. This is where your talent is best used!  Our basic, soft elastic or Velcro wristlets have a metal clip that serves as a base and extra security to clamp onto the flowers with their bendable arms. Our beaded, rhinestone or cuff jewelry-style bracelets have a clear plastic design disc for gluing and have holes for wire or ribbon. The design disk can be removed, making the bracelet a keepsake after prom.

Use bracelets/wristlets that can fit any size wrist! If you have any hesitation that the wristlet will not fit securely to your teen’s wrist, save yourself the headache and use a wristlet that adjusts to any size! A slaplet or cuff can mold to fit any size wrist securely. This way you do not have to do any nerve-wracking last-minute tricks to make it fit.

Use premade corsage backs. Often a wrist corsage is constructed using a foundation of foliage. Opt for a base made of pre-assembled greenery. By skipping the step of building a base, you saved time in the design. These silk leaves also allow you to get lasting color and texture unlike real foliage that can dry out or fade.

Use bracelets with bows and leaves already added! Pretty details and secure finishing go hand in hand when you use bracelets with bows. Save a step and a headache. We offer beautiful bracelets with full bows already attached! Save yourself loads of time and stress when all you have to do is add flowers!

Bonus: If you are bringing on extra staff to help with the prom rush, now you only need to teach them how to add flowers – not make bows and prep bases!

Offer a pocket square. It is so easy to glue flowers, greenery and accessories to the pocket square tool and chances are, young customers will appreciate this style. One professional told us, “When I began mentioning upgrading to a pocket square, practically all my couples upgraded to pocket boutonnieres.”

Use floral adhesive. Gluing flowers and foliage can go so much faster than wire and tape. Plus, floral adhesive is designed to securely stick to floral materials and withstand the humidity of a cooler. Learning how to glue corsages and boutonnieres is often easier on your staff too!

Use silk flowers. Cute and petite, we offer silk flowers perfectly sized for body flowers.  They look great whether you are choosing a natural, lifelike flower or a bold and whimsical color. Using silk flowers will also ease anxiety because your customers can see exactly what they are getting if you have silk flowers as part of your corsage bar.  Plus, when you know these corsages will be handled and jostled to no end, you do not need to worry about browning petals, bruised roses and the weight of fresh flowers when you choose lifelike silk flowers.
