With More Than 20 Handcrafted Shades and Meticulous Attention to Detail, Pioneer Sets the Standard for Silk Cabbage Roses
Cabbage Roses are a must-have variety in today’s floral design. Cabbage roses appeal to traditionalists because the variety inspired everything from Renaissance to Victorian era art. Other consumers may appreciate the more recent nostalgic charm, or simply the natural garden qualities. Yes, cabbage roses suit conventional, fashion-forward and casual clients alike and have woven their magic into weddings, celebrations and everyday occasions.
When it comes to weddings, roses continue to be the most popular wedding flower (which includes cabbage roses in its tally.) That alone makes it essential to a floral designer’s inventory. Consider also that the second most popular wedding flower is the peony, and we see a trend for the layered look of densely packed petals and fully open blooms. Additionally, with trends for a more organic, garden-style look at weddings and events, cabbage roses are increasingly preferred.
About Pioneer’s Cabbage Rose Flowers
A cabbage rose’s layers of petals and full bloom bring a natural elegance. Like the dense leaves of a cabbage, cabbage roses are named for the compact swirl of petals that make up the center of this flower. In fact, the scientific name for this rose variety is Rosa centerfolia, which means hundred petaled rose. Like the real variety, our professional users find the globelike shape of our cabbage rose makes it a stunning artificial flower. Full of large round petals, it delivers a large burst of color.
Our PWR2090 cabbage rose bush contains 9 flowers, as large as 4” in diameter (envision the size of a naval orange or pomegranate.) The work is done with each bush showing a lifelike variation with bloom size naturally ranging in size from 2.5” –4”.
Also available in a 4” bloom size are single stems so fully open it appears the petals have begun to reflex. The PWR0128 showcases lifelike petals curling to make a perfect cup shape, fluffy and garden-like.
By customer request, Pioneer also provides mini version, perfect for bouquets, corsages and boutonnieres. Maintaining the concentration of petals and rich color, these blooms are simply smaller. PWR2088 mini bushes deliver 7, 2” diameter blooms (think of the top of a soda can.)
In nature, the foliage of a cabbage rose bush is abundant with dark green, serrate leaves. Our artificial cabbage rose bush shares these attributes. (At Pioneer, all our flower bushes pay equally close attention to the flowers and its foliage for a wholly useful product.)

About Cabbage Rose Prices
David Austin roses, loved and known by name, are the gold standard of fresh cabbage roses. They became well-loved by florists but carry a premium price point. As consumers caught on to this look, not all could afford its price point, and its understandably limited production.
Today, fresh cabbage roses can be found ranging from $2.99 to upwards for $6 wholesale. Whereas our premium quality silk cabbage roses, as of today, are less than $1.00 per bloom (PWR2090). That’s at 70-85% less on the product alone.
Fresh flowers also bring extreme time constraints to the design process. For optimal freshness, growers recommend having them delivered 2-days before an event, leaving 48 hours to design. This creates immense pressure, and is why having a permanent variety sourced is imperative. With permanent botanicals you can spread out your design and labor time. Using faux flowers reduces labor cost by working normal business hours, and pacing designs over the course of days or weeks.
When awaiting fresh shipments, there is always apprehension. Potential for damage is large. Consider too that every bloom on a permanent bush is usable, so your profitability skyrockets.
AIFD designers often recommend mixing permanent and fresh flowers if uncomfortable with a complete departure from fresh. The wonderful part about our botanically correct cabbage roses is that they blend with fresh varieties of flowers, giving a beautiful presentation with less stress. Even designing with half the blooms ahead of time makes a massive difference in labor and timing.

Florists consider cabbage roses in season from spring to early autumn. As with any fresh flower, blooming period and hardiness can vary widely from year to year due to climate factors. A Note on Scent
Fresh cabbage roses carry a strong scent. While we encourage engaging all five senses at events, caution with fresh flowers is always advised. The bouquet holder could have allergies and certainly preferences on scents. Many avoid fresh cabbage roses as table flowers for this reason as well.
