Picture Perfect Picnics with Permanents

And one of the emerging ways to infuse the art of flowers into a special occasion is luxury picnics.
Whether just for two people or to broadcast live on social media, consumers are realizing they must hire a professional to make an intimate moment absolutely dreamy.
Born out of the closure of restaurants and the need to be outdoors during COVID, the future of the market is unknown. But with the prevalence of social media to broadcast our lives, the industry is still growing.
Smithsonian Magazine recently reported, “According to Pinterest, [Gen Z] are now often choosing picnic dates over restaurants and movie nights. Searches for “picnic date ideas” have increased 385 percent in the past year.”
The businesses who will endure are the ones truly building luxury. And perfect flowers are always involved.
Floral designers are great partners for luxury picnic companies because they lighten the design load by providing flowers with the style, proportion and mechanics that match this venue.

- Worry-free flowers.
Sun, insects, wind… luxury picnic designers really face all the obstacles. This means realistic faux flowers are key. - Premade garlands and drops.
Part of the luxury picnic atmosphere is creating an area dripping with natural elements. By using garlands – even layering two or three of them – picnics take on a lush look in no time. Flowers and greens already designed to hang also provide a cascading look to low tables, which soften the edges of the entire experience making it seem like it magically grew out of that spot.
- Solid, stable containers.
Waterfront or windy days… picnic designers certainly deal with the elements. Ceramic, wood and concrete containers are some of the most stable and organically beautiful for outdoor settings. Containers made for floral design are also going to be equally weighted and stable. Adding flowers isn’t going to tip them over. Containers that are food-safe are also extremely important when designing that part of a picnic.
- Low containers.
Because you’re sitting on the ground or on a poof or pillow, tall vases and event-sized pots aren’t the right scale. Low containers, 6-8” tall may be all the height you need.
- LED Candle containers.
To create these romantic moments, you may consider candles – of course the battery-operated kind! Use holders that are sized correctly and provide glamour and sparkle.
Like the furnishings and linens you are renting as part of your business model, flowers can also be reused from event to event. Investing in designs now means more profit and less stress, allowing your luxury picnic business to grow!
