Video: How to: Use a Shrink Sleeve

Shrink sleeves are a convenient alternative to shrink wrap by the roll or sheet, and they take only a moment to apply. In this video demonstration led by Susan Huelsman AIFD, learn how to apply one of these convenient sleeves to a large gift basket - and how to finish the composition with style and flair.

Susan begins by laying out the bag and putting the basket inside. She pulls the wrap until it’s nice and tight, bringing any excess from the bottom toward the top. She suggests tying off the plume very gently, to let any air easily escape during the drinking process.

Next, Susan uses a heat gun to activate the wrap. She starts with the bottom edge and gradually works her way up toward the bow. While it’s still warm, fluff out the plume and secure it nice and tight - you can use wire, chenille, ribbon, or whatever method you prefer.

A final pass with the heat gun ensures the wrap hugs the contents nice and tight, keeping them securely in place when the time comes to store, ship, or deliver the gift basket.

Ensure a picture-perfect presentation by attaching an on-theme bow. Susan tidies up the arrangement by pulling all of the plume straight up, using scissors to trim a straight line across the top - make sure the plume remains proportional to the rest of the basket. Then she re-fluffs the plume and the basket is ready to go.
