Making a Success of Online Shopping

Making a Success of Online Shopping

Since the majority of our customer base is not within driving distance to our warehouse location, most of our customers just do not have the opportunity to see our products in person before purchasing them. Since that can be challenging, we wanted to share some helpful tips for shopping for products when you cannot see and touch them in person. Yes – you CAN be successful at online shopping for your floral and craft businesses!

First, zoom in!

We’ve made sure you can get up close and personal with every item!

We show multiple views of each item when possible. Both the product alone, and used in an arrangement if we can. This also gives you an idea of size, scale and proportion of the flowers.

When you click on a photo to view, double-click on a single photo or use your mouse wheel to zoom in even further.

Inspecting the quality is likely something else you’d do in a physical showroom. When shopping for silks, the signs of high quality silks include:

  • Colors naturally blend to look lifelike
  • Petals and foliage are solid not sheer and flimsy
  • Buds are tightly constructed, not flopping open and fragile
  • Edges aren’t frayed

Second, read the details!
Scroll down past the swatches and prices and read the DETAILS section of the product.

Did you know this past year we have added TONS of information?

Step 1: Review all the dimensions:

Go ahead and pull your measuring tape out to help you visualize! And, think of these common comparisons:

  • A standard doorway width is 36 inches. (half the doorway would be 18”)
  • A ruler is 12”
  • An iphone is 5.5-6”
  • An inch is roughly the measurement from the top knuckle on your thumb to your thumb tip
details

Not only do we tell you the product size from tip-to-tail, we give you other measurements too, like the size of every flower head on a stem.

  • Diameter is the measurement from one side of a circle straight across to the other at its widest point.
  • When you see a flower head diameter of 1”, imagine a US quarter.

When it comes to containers, we know you’re dropping-in potted plants and flowers. We made sure to tell you what size at the garden center sits snugly into the container.

Step 2: Check out the stem count:

You may be getting more than you realize! You can find the stem count in the DETAILS, and often in the product title itself. So a bush with a description of  -x9, 19” - means that it has 9 stems and is 19” overall height. We read this verbally as a “by 9 bush.”

Step 3: Understanding color:

  • We offer you the opportunity to shop by color so you can see the spectrum of hues side by side.
  • We introduce products in Collections. You know when we do these that all of these items coordinate. If we launch them together, they are the same on-trend shade and are meant to work together.

Step 4: Getting the feel

We know there is no alternative to touching a silk flower -- but reading and understanding the DETAILS will help!

  • In the DETAILS we explain textures like when things are rigid (stiff) or malleable (able to be manipulated but hold their shape.)
  • The product material tells you what an item is made of – fabric, plastic, metal, ceramic and more
  • Real-touch is an extra velvety petal made of Polyurethane or Latex with similar thickness of a real orchid or calla lily
  • To learn more about product materials, read our information pages about the materials: Silk Flowers,  Baskets.

“But I NEED to match the color”

We understand that there are times that you absolutely must see the product and the color. If you want to test and try materials – buy a sample! If you find it unusable for your specific need, we do accept returns. Or, use it for another design. Many products do not have a minimum order, so buying one is possible and we are sure you can find a way to use it!
