We Saw It Coming - Apricot, Peach & Coral Products, NOW!

More than 1100 national news outlets picked up the Pantone Color of the Year story, meaning consumers around the U.S. are aware of what is on-trend: Peach Fuzz.

We’ve always felt that “color is everything” when it comes to serving event, floral and gift designers. When it comes to shades of peach, we have you covered.

While many of your suppliers may be scrambling to launch products and breed flowers to capitalize on this unveiling, we saw this trend coming. Our Apricot Crush Collection embraces the romance and warmth clients clamor for. Shades of peach create stunning monochromatic designs and complement everything from beige and grey neutrals to blue and green for a deeper palette.

This Year’s Peach

“This year we also introduced a new peach,” said Pioneer marketing manager, Sarah Botchick. “Even though we have a few shades we knew we wanted one more.”

“I like that is has the variations in it from the light down to the dark,” added Tom Bowling, AIFD, PFCI. “It gives it so much more dimension than one color all the way through.”

Ivory Pink, Cantaloupe, Peach and Peach Twist with its detailed tinting, now provide different hues, tones and shades to create monochromatic designs instantly.

“That’s the lovely part about designing with permanent,” continued Bowling. “You get so much more dimension - the success is already there for you.”

“It’s incumbent on the designer to put it together: whether designs are more architecturally influenced…garden influenced... the color is done for you. It flows a bit easier,” he concluded.

A Note on Texture

What we find especially noteworthy in Pantone’s announcement is that it is the first time in many years that the color of the year includes a texture. They did not name peach alone, but Peach Fuzz. Just as a few years ago it was not Coral, but Living Coral… not Green, but Greenery… Evoking nature continues to be important in how we style ourselves, our homes and our events.

Velvety texture is just as much a part of the trend as the color itself. As designers, explaining how you incorporate texture evokes the senses during bridal consultations or special event experiences. Soft textures found in nature provide a feeling of warmth and tranquility just like peach colors do. Be prepared to design with lambs ear, pussywillow, soft thistles and pampas. While these are typically fragile and seasonal materials, using botanically-correct permanent varieties makes designing easier. Matte containers also convey this highly tactile mood.

A Final Note on Peach

Warm colors do reflect the “need for some quiet, some peace, some respite.” So, as trend forecasters see our collective need for that, we can understand peach as the emergent color.
