Hydrangeas: Alleviate The Stress, Achieve The Beauty

Hydrangeas: Alleviate The Stress, Achieve The Beauty

Hydrangeas, adored for their voluminous blooms and captivating colors, have charmed countless couples planning their weddings. With a spectrum ranging from deep blue to vibrant pinks, serene whites to lush greens, their abundant flowers not only bring a sense of fullness to arrangements but also serve as a versatile foundation. Their textures, size, and color make them a go-to for building archways, overflowing from urns down the aisle, filling centerpieces or creating fluffy bouquets.

However, the care and handling of hydrangeas might be researched more than any other type of flower. Designers face relentless worries when working with these fresh flowers, whose name literally means “water vessel.” Hydrangeas are particularly thirsty and prone to wilting, shriveling, or drooping. Both designers and consumers need to make additional efforts to change the vase water, spray the flowers, and support their heavy heads. There are even specific processing and storage chemicals designed for these finicky flowers.

Yet there is no avoiding them! Consumers adore them! What’s a designer to do? Let us help you understand how lifelike artificial versions of hydrangeas from Pioneer alleviate stress and achieve the beauty that designers need.

About Pioneer’s Hydrangea Flowers

When we say our flowers are 'botanically correct,' hydrangeas are a perfect example.

A hydrangea shrub is typically 3 feet tall, and our artificial hydrangeas include 14-inch, 17-inch, 19-inch, 21-inch, 23-inch, 24-inch, 29-inch, and 32.5-inch lengths—just like the limbs that make up these bushes.

A hydrangea's ball-shaped flowers range from 4 to 8 inches in diameter, with each flower head made up of many small, flat florets, each measuring ½ to 1 ½ inches. Our silk versions are this size as well.

When you use a Pioneer silk hydrangea, the size and shape are identical to the real thing.

About Pioneer’s Hydrangea Foliage

Hydrangea leaves are wider at the base and taper to a point with serrated edges. The foliage is broad, 4-8 inches across, and many of our silk hydrangea bushes and stems include this botanically correct foliage. We also offer versions without leaves for florists who want the clean stem and flower alone.

Using Hydrangea Bushes for Filler Flowers

Artificial hydrangeas also become a valuable filler flower. Separate the blooms for feathery color and texture. Each petal is a flower unto itself. Delicate petals are great for body flowers, as a substitute for stephanotis, or simply a colorful filler.

Silk Hydrangeas Don’t Weigh You Down

An added benefit of using silk blooms is that they are lighter! Hydrangea heads are often so full that their weight pulls them down, requiring a lot of support. Designers don’t face this issue when using artificial hydrangea stems and bushes!

About Pioneer’s Hydrangea Flower Colors

Blue

Blue is the most selected 'favorite color' in America and the world. But what flowers come in blue? It’s a short list. So, based on color alone, hydrangeas shoot to the top as one of the most popular flowers. Today’s customers favor an authentic, natural look. When we create our variety of blue hydrangeas, each is based on the natural appearance of its real-life counterpart. Then we offer a range of sizes and price points to meet designers' needs.

Pink

A cone-shaped, light pink hydrangea has been named one of the ‘cut flowers of the year.’ Anyone clamoring for this look may be inclined to try a cone hydrangea stems, as we recognize this more organic, cut-from-the-garden look will influence arrangement design.

…and more!

Hydrangeas are not just for spring and summer; their color palette offers warmth to fall designs as well. Golden brown, bright orange, and even deep aubergine bring color and texture to designs year-round. You can always count on color coordination when using Pioneer silk flowers.

Some of Our Favorite Ways to Use Hydrangeas
