When Life Gave Us Lemons…we celebrated!

When it comes to spring and summer designs, some items just fit perfectly. Lemons are one of those. No philosophical explanation needed, our Lemon Grove Collection simply embodies sweet, sunny days.

We are still in a global state of needing an extra dose of optimism and lemons do this organically. Getting back to nature, with its fresh-picked, garden feeling, customers love that it naturally puts them in the right mindset. We don’t want something synthetic in shape or color, nothing mod or neon, just a true bright spot.

This makes lemons a versatile necessity in your shop. Spanning customer ages, socioeconomic status and geographies, lemons can be used to create many levels of joy and sophistication. There are so many ways you can make lemons your own.

To one customer, adding lemons in home décor may represent a lively County Fair. Pair it with blue ribbons. To another, it’s the memory of a homemade lemonade stand when combined with picket fence-like whitewashed crates or baskets or a watering can.

For another customer celebrating a special event, lemons can transport us with a feeling of the Mediterranean. Pair lemon leaves with olive branches and dream of the coast!

But don’t keep your Lemon Grove Collection in the back room - display it! As you work through your stock of lemons for gifts and events, show it off to appeal to walk-in traffic. Yellow stops people. It evokes a feeling of excitement – summer is coming! Have it on hand now to attract attention. Containers of lemons, a vase of forsythia, premade wreathes and garlands make eye-catching windows or end caps.

Finally, at Pioneer we wanted to make sure we offer the Lemon Grove collection because using fresh produce in floral designs can be problematic. Fruit can be mixed with fresh flowers to get color and texture that is natural and organic, but it releases ethylene gas that puts fresh flowers at risk for wilting and browning quickly. Using faux fruit eliminates this risk.

And while a single insertion of fruit takes up space in a design, figuring out how to secure it and balance the weight can be tricky. Our premade garlands and wreathes take care of that for you and allow fruits to drape and layer like you might not be able to achieve with the real thing.

Whether lemons give your customers hometown feelings, or transports them across the pond, this seasonal fruit is a clever and natural nod to summer sentiments. (With the added reminder that life can turn from bitter to sweet!)
